Steve Richardson, CPA was an honor graduate of the University of Alabama in 1976, passing the CPA exam in one sitting later that year. After working the required two years for Arthur Young and Company in Birmingham, Steve relocated to Tuscaloosa to begin the firm in 1978. He has an extensive background in tax planning, compensation planning, financial forecasting, and management consulting. Steve focuses on tax planning, and routinely represents clients before the IRS. Steve is the author of a book on tax and economic policy, titled The Eagle’s Claw, and published by Vital Issues Press of Lafayette, Louisiana.
Todd Cowart is our Senior Accountant and Chief Financial Officer. In addition to managing the practice, his primary focus of practice is Small Business and Individual Taxation and is the Director of our Nonprofit/Church Auditing and Consulting Practice. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama Accounting Program and has been with the firm since 1997. Away from the office, Todd enjoys spending time with his wife, Aimee, and their three children, Zanna, Kylee and Eli and playing golf. Todd serves the community with his family through his church and various local charities and activities.
Amy Foster, CPA is our Director of Individual Taxation and all other non-attest accounting functions. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama Accounting Program and has been with the firm since 1998. Amy’s primary focus is individual & small business taxation and assisting with not-for-profit entity set up. She serves the community through her church activities and as Treasurer and Board Member of local charities. When she is not working, she can be found enjoying recreational activities with her husband, Jonathan and family, Sierra, Carson, John Coleman and Jenny.
John Bowers, CPA is our Audit Manager and primarily works on church and non-profit audits and reviews for our firm. He is a 1989 Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Alabama and received the AICPA Most Outstanding Accounting Student Award his senior year. John has served twice as a deacon for First Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa where he is also an usher. John is a member of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of The United Way of West Alabama and also volunteers at the Community Soup Bowl. John and his wife Charlotte have been married 33 years and have two grown sons.
William "TJ" Sheehan is a graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery, AL with a Masters of Accountancy. He has been with the firm since 2018. Along with general accounting, his primary focus is Small Business and Individual Taxation. Away from the office, TJ enjoys spending time with his wife, Mara and their two daughters, Stella and Hazel.
Rachel Hollingshead is a native of Tuscaloosa, is a 2004 graduate of the University of Alabama Business School with a degree in Accounting. Rachel was a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Societies. She received her Masters in Accountancy in 2005. Since that time, she has worked for the company with her primary focus on personal and business taxation. Rachel enjoys helping various local charities and spending time with her husband, Josh and their two daughters, Reece, and Riley Jane.
Liz Hamner is a graduate of the University of Alabama Accounting Program and has been with the firm since 2003. She manages our payroll and client service division and assists with small business tax return preparation. Away from the office, Liz enjoys spending time and vacationing with her husband, Blake and their three children, Lily Jo, Grady, and Olli. She is active in local charities and church.
Bethany Russell is an administrative assistant for the firm specializing in return processing, compliance, and other valuable needs of the firm. She is a graduate of Mississippi State University and has been with the firm since 2015. She is married to her husband, Alan, parents to Kinsley and Grayson.
Aimee Cowart is a bookkeeper and client service manager in our practice. She holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama and holds an Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Office Management and Technology with a specialty in Bookkeeping and Accounting. She is married to Todd Cowart, who is the firm’s CFO. Aimee and Todd have 3 children. She is a lifelong resident of Tuscaloosa County where she enjoys serving the community through her church alongside her family.
Stephanie Ellison graduated in 2005 from the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in Communications. She assists in the bookkeeping and payroll departments. Stephanie has been preparing bookkeeping for a local company for 11 years before joining our firm. She is married to Justin Ellison and they have 2 children, Payton and Acker.
Julie Ott is a client services manager in our practice. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in public relations. She is married to Eric who is a local chiropractor and worship leader. They have two children, Alex and Elaina. Away from the office she enjoys spending time with family, running, and helping lead worship as part of the worship band at her church.
Debora Brown is a seasoned bookkeeping professional with over 25 years of experience and certifications in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online. Debora is married to her husband David and is the proud mother of two adult children, Pamela and Benjamin, as well as a doting grandmother to six grandchildren. Outside of work, she cherishes time spent with family, is actively involved in her church, and has been passionately involved in missions to Romania since 2010.
Jennifer Barksdale is an Administrative Assistant and has worked with the firm 29 years. She has five adult children and several grand and great children. Away from the office, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family, friends and serving her local church.
Doris Gray is an Administrative Assistant. She has worked for the firm 10 years. She has two adult children, four grandchildren, and 1 great grandson. In her free time, Doris enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music, reading, making crafts and taking long walks.
